Anche se il nome non è di semplice pronuncia Choqok è la stella nascente dei Client di microblogging nel mondo di Linux. Questa piccola meraviglia fa buon uso del toolkit di KDE per presentarci un’interfaccia a linguette e multi-account lineare e semplice, ma con molte funzionalità, impacchettate in un design pulito e non ingolfato, Alcune di queste funzionalità non si fanno nemmeno notare, come la decifrazione automatica di tutti quegli URL abbreviati: passate il mouse sopra uno di essi e apparirà un tooltip con l’intero indirizzo del sito. Choqok prende punti anche semplicemente per essere una applicazione Linux nativa. I suoi menu, i suoi font i suoi pulsanti e il comportamento generale ci saranno tutti familiari se usiamo altre applicazioni KDE, questo lo rende più semplice da usare e perfettamente adatto al desktop Linux. Uno dei punti forti di Choqok, inoltre, è il suo supporto, oltre Identica, a tutti i network che utilizzano StatusNet come piattaforma. Non mancano poi le funzionalità di notifica per nuovi tweet ed evidenziazione delle risposte. Insomma, da provare assolutamente sul proprio desktop KDE, ma anche non solo, infatti il software, nonostante l’utilizzo delle librerie QT, comunque si integra abbastanza bene anche in GNOME sebbene non sia il suo ambiente di appartenenza.

Per installare / aggiornare la nuova versione di Choqok su K|Ubuntu basta avviare il terminale e scrivere:
